  18. Something will replace the floppy drive and soon, I wouldn't argue with that,
  19. in fact many companies/institutions use writeable CDROMs instead already.
  20. Perhaps Zip drives will be popular for a while but no one knows how long they
  21. will last before something better comes along.  If you have a zip drive on a pc
  22. you can take it out and replace it with something better, software runs from
  23. the hard drive and booting from such media doesn't matter.  If you have a
  24. plastic case around a zip drive in a a1200 style model you are almost
  25. guaranteed that something else won't fit in there if you want to replace it.
  26. For the high end sure, you can do anything there.

  28. Other than that though I would prefer anything else other than a floppy drive
  29. to go into the NEW models AT plans on producing for the low end.  What would
  30. help a lot in this area is if selecting df1: (whatever) as the boot device 
  31. from the boot menu would mean you could play a game from df1:, as it stands
  32. games still ask for df0:.  Basically, whatever you put in the machine as the
  33. default will be the only thing games will take into account.  Swapping floppies
  34. to play a game is no longer as acceptable or tolerable as it was and the sooner
  35. AT gets away from them the better for their long term success.  IMO.
